Seeking natural colors for foods and beverages |
| |
PepsiCo is evaluating different natural color ingredients and technologies to replace Yellow #5, Yellow #6, Red #40, and Blue #1 for multiple food and beverage brands in order to address consumer demand. Specific challenges are in the Red #40 (food) and Blue #1 (food & beverage) replacers. |
Seeking technologies to reduce GHGs in all aspects of the supply chain and manufacturing process. |
| |
PepsiCo is committed to reducing GHG emissions from seed to shelf. We are looking to engage with partners who can assist us in our goal of reducing GHG 20% by 2030 and achieving net-zero emissions by 2050. As new technologies emerge, efficiencies will be gained and PepsiCo aims to remain at the forefront of best practices in the food and beverage industry. PepsiCo is seeking technologies to reduce GHGs in all aspects of the supply chain and manufacturing process. Solutions may be in one or more of the following areas: • Agriculture – sustainable farming and the reduction of GHG intensive fertilizers • Manufacturing – adopting energy efficient manufacturing processes; novel methods for utilizing waste; use of renewable thermal energy at scale • Packaging – alternative packaging materials and formats that reduce GHGs • Distribution – technologies to assist in the efficiency of our company-owned and third party fleet |
Seeking safe and effective outdoor mosquito solutions |
| |
Seeking safe and effective outdoor mosquito solutions to help consumers enjoy their yard and outdoor spaces without the annoyance and inconvenience of mosquito bites. Mosquitos are a common nuisance and disease spreading insect. In addition to being vectors of disease, one of the main reasons we want to tackle this pest is to allow people to enjoy outdoor activities more frequently – e.g., eating outside, spending time with family, and watching outdoor sporting events. Here in P&G Ventures, we are looking for existing, in market solutions which exist globally that are specifically designed to kill or repel mosquitos. |
High Oleic Soybean Oil Hand Sanitizer |
| |
With the onset of COVID-19, the importance of disinfection prompted our team to develop a hand sanitizer made from high oleic soybeans. Proper cleansing requires a two-pronged approach: destroying germs and keeping skin hydrated. Our sanitizer does both. Where Airable’s blend surpasses its competitors is in the use of high oleic soybean oil. Its emollient properties are derived from oleic acid, whose structure is very similar to the structure of the oils in our skin. The soybean oil is 60%–75% oleic acid, so sanitizers that contain high levels of the oil are also effective moisturizers. |
New filter for removing tar, nicotine and toxic compounds from tobacco smoke |
| |
The group of investigation of Processing and pyrolysis of polymers of the University of Alicante has developed a new combined filter that eliminates the tar, the nicotine and other toxic gases present in tobacco smoke in a very efficient way more efficiently than current filters available in the market. The invention is characterized because it combines three membranes of different characteristics arranged in a very specific way. The primary membrane (M1), located at the end closest to the tobacco column, is formed by a perforated disk of impermeable material. It also has an outer membrane (M3) of cellulose acetate fiber located at the end in contact with the mouth of the smoker. It can also incorporate a cylindrical intermediate membrane (M2) between M1 and M3 formed by an adsorbent material. This innovative combined filter has a low manufacturing cost, allows to dispense tastes and flavors, and can be applied in both commercial cigarettes and filters for rolling tobacco. Wanted companies interested in acquiring this technology for commercial exploitation. |
Zagblade: Reduction of aero acoustic pollution by introducing novel serrated trailing edges |
| |
An aerofoil blade design that reduces trailing edge noise by means of a saw-tooth serration filled with a porous material. The serration and porous material work constructively with each other to significantly improve the aero-acoustic performance. An optimal choice of the porous materials has been identified, where it can achieve broadband noise reduction whilst completely suppressing the vortex shedding tone. This new device is more industrially-ready than the conventional “add-on” type serration due to its superior structural integrity. In addition it produces an aerodynamic performance similar to that of the baseline aerofoil. Applicable to a wide range from applications from drones, UAVs, aircraft engines, wind turbines and fan blades. |
